This has been a variety of businesses over the years, some predating the current building, and there may be some confusion with other commercial structures in this strip as well as due to shifting addresses for these building. According to the Lynchburg City Directory, in 1916 D. Moses Co. Dry Goods was located at this address, followed by years of it serving as a residence and then listed as vacant from 1939-1953. From 1954-1972 Clarita's Beauty Shop was located here. Also from 1954-1955 this was the address of the Lynchburg Trust & Savings Bank, from 1956-1968 the First National Trust and Savings Bank, and from 1969-1987 the United Virginia Bank/First National.
